6-10 January 2020
Broken Bay Sport & Recreation Centre

The theme this year was “Look at Me”. We explored the idea that we are saturated in a self-obsessed culture. Society tells us to prioritise myself over others, to love myself more, to set more self-help goals to make my life better now, and make my own truth as long as it feels right for me. Pastor Alex Kim shared that each of us are image bearers of God and that our worth, identity and value are determined solely by what the creator decides. He shared the good news that God loved us and gave us Jesus to pay for our debts, considering us the ‘joy set before him’. We learnt that the world’s answers of looking to ourselves to fix our problems do not last, but when we look to Jesus, he give us his lasting peace, the right perspective and hope for eternity. When we look to Jesus, it’s not that our problems disappear, it’s that we are grounded in knowing who we are, whose we are, and how we should live. Even though we are indeed a selfie-generation, we need to stop looking at ourselves, our comforts, desires and preferences but surrender these idols to look at Jesus who is much much more worthy.
