“The Invitation” was 2018’s central theme. It was about how God invites us to a restored relationship with him through Jesus Christ and we all need to respond individually. In essence, it is an invitation to an all expenses paid party through Jesus! We get forgiven, justified and adopted not by our own merit and effort but by Jesus’. He is our “in” to the most amazing banquet awaiting us with God. The invitation is not addressed to our parents and we get in for free because we’re their kids, but each person receives their own invitation with their personalised name on it, and we each need to respond individually with a yes or no. There are no “maybes” or “interested” buttons like Facebook. A lack of response is also a response. This theme talks about how there are only two options, two ways to live our lives. We also unpacked what we are being invited to: to meet the King, to experience heaven now and later, to have a restored relationship with God – it’s an invitation we’d be crazy to refuse.
